Blind but Now I See

Read: Acts 9:1-22

And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

Acts 9:20 KJV

When we see or hear the word “blind”, we automatically take it to mean that the person is not able to see anything.

But that is not the only meaning.

A person may be considered “blind” when they are unable to, or have no desire to, understand something.

Something had to happen in our lives to put us in a position that helped us to better understand and realize what someone was trying to tell us.

That is what the Lord did with Saul.

Saul was one of the most feared persecutors of the church until his encounter with the Lord (Acts 9:1-5).

You see, Saul did not have true knowledge about the Lord and what He desired for the people.

He didn’t have a desire to learn anything about Him either.

Therefore, the Lord took away his physical vision.

The Lord was putting Saul in a position that would change his life.

Saul didn’t understand what happening in his life.

That is when he began to seek the Lord for the understanding that he needed.

He began to fast and pray.

The Lord began to let him see his sins.

Saul had lived so long in the darkness of them, that he failed to see his own spiritual needs. How wounded his spirit was.

It was an “eye-opening” experience.

That is what can happen in our lives.

It may not be like what Saul went through, but it can happen.

The Lord allows things to happen in our lives so we, saved or unsaved, can see what we are doing wrong and understand the renewing grace He wants to grant each of us.

Just like He did with Saul, the Lord may send someone to assist us in our understanding.

Ananias was sent by the Lord to restore Saul’s sight and to help him learn more about the Lord (vv.17-19).

Saul accepted the help and obtained the knowledge the Lord desired him to have.

With that knowledge, Saul began to preach about “Christ in the synagogues” (v.20).

This change and his testimony made it possible tor others to see how the Lord can make the needed changes in our lives (vv. 20-22).

Our situations may not be like the one Saul had, but in the situations, we do go through, we can find an understanding in what the Lord is trying to tell us.

How what He is telling us, does make a positive difference in our lives.

An understanding that will allow us to tell others about His love and what He has done for us.

Any life that has been changed by the Lord is worth talking about.

We never know who may need a word of encouragement.

Our testimonies mean more to someone than we may ever know.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we all have our moments when we go against the Word. We fail to get a complete understanding to what You are telling us. By the teaching of Your Holy Spirit, may we find the knowledge to defeat sin and become a new creature, doing all that You desire in our lives. We were once blind but now we see and want to be vessels of Your mercy, love, and kindness.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
