Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not. Jeremiah 5:21 KJV
There are many groups where people come together to express their feelings and be a support to one another.
There are even some who desire to only have one on one consultations.
They just want a “shoulder to cry on”.
With any situation, it is important that we listen to what is being said and see what a person’s body language may be telling us before we speak.
Grant it we know some won’t like what they hear.
It will go in one ear and out the other.
We ask, “Did you hear what I said?” “The Lord knows, I am only trying to help you.”
Then when things don’t get any better, they wonder why.
They want to blame the Lord and everyone else.
All we can do is pray.
Praying for them, with hopes that they get a wakeup call and realize what we said made sense and let the Lord make the needed changes in their lives.
Jeremiah was faced with a situation in which God had declared that there wasn’t a single man who could convince Him that He should turn away His extreme anger against Judah (vv. 1-2).
God was always trying to tell them the direction they should be going in their lives, but they refused to listen.
Jeremiah took on this challenge and found that in all of Judah, from the greatest to the least of them, none was willing to repent (vv.3-5).
Even in the moments of severe threats and God stepping in to save them, showing them mercy, Judah remained a people who wound not repent (vv.18-19).
So, when the people began to question the Lord on why He was allowing these things to happen, He told Jeremiah how to respond.
Jeremiah began to speak in a very direct and honest way.
He didn’t worry about whether he would be offending anybody.
He just told them they were a “foolish people, and without understanding” (v. 21).
All because they refused to use their eyes to see all that the Lord was doing for them and to open their ears to hear what He was trying to tell them (v. 21).
Their sins were causing them to miss out the blessings God desired for their lives.
What God had been telling them, was going in one ear and out the other.
The same hods true in our lives.
God is always working on us.
He is always giving us Words of encouragement, love, instruction, and caution.
Sin causes us to miss out on God’s blessings.
It is up to us whether we truly hear what He is telling us and see what He is doing and has already done in our lives.
The Father wants us to learn from the things we face in life.
That is why He gives us everything we need to survive if we will listen to what He shows and tells us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, open our eyes and open our ears, so we may see and hear all that You are trying to tell us. We know that You see all that is happening in the world and will always speak to us, showing us the direction, we should take. It is up to us whether we receive all that You are telling us. Forgive us when put ourselves in a position of being stubborn and think we have all the answers, because we don’t. Thank You for the patience, kindness, and love You continue to show us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
