Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Proverbs 5:18 KJV
While doing research on this verse, I read about a Mexican hat dance that celebrates romance. It is called “Jarabe Tapatio”.
The men wore a sombrero, which is a broad-brimmed hat made of felt or straw.
During this upbeat dance, the man would place his sombrero on the ground.
At the end of the dance, the woman would grab the hat, and both would hide behind it to seal their romance with a kiss.
For those that are living according to the Word, the dance reminds us of the importance of faithfulness in a marriage.
Proverbs 5 does talk about the high cost of immortality but chooses marriage as the main one.
There may be many couples dancing the Jarabe on stage, but each person is focused solely on his or her partner.
As the Word says, “Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well (v.15).
When we do, our lives are blessed and given the ability to rejoice in a deep and undivided commitment to our spouse (v. 18).
Just like the dancers are being observed, so is our romance being watched by the Lord.
“For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings” (v. 21).
God desires to protect our marriages, so He is always watching us.
We must attend to God’s Word and seek His direction and blessings.
Pleasing Him through the loyalty we show to each other.
The Jarabe is not only a rhythm to dance too, but also a rhythm to follow in life.
Vowing not to do anything that makes us miss a step but keep the beat of our Savior and be faithful to Him, whether we are married or unmarried.
Receiving all the blessings and joy He has predestined for our lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we need to remember that our sins may escape the eyes of man, but You see them all. Le us not be foolish to choose the way of sin but honor You in all our relationships. We know that we are truly united with You when we attend to Your Word. Thank You for watching over us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
