The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. Romans 8:16 KJV
Our birth certificates, family reunion gatherings or an ancestry search can tell us about our natural heritage.
It is not uncommon for someone to look at someone else and tell them they look just like one of their parents.
Or that they look like someone else they know.
Sometimes asking, “Whose child are you?”, “Where do you come from?”, “Who are your people?”
They often associate your behavior based on who your family is.
It is good to know we are representing our family in a positive way.
The same holds true when we are “born again” and receive Christ as our Savior.
People see something in us.
They are not sure what it is or who we remind them of.
But they know there is something about us that has caught their attention.
Those are the times the Holy Spirit reminds us of whose child we are.
We are God’s children.
We are His people, His sheep, His offspring, His inheritance, and His dwelling.
That is what people see in us.
We are honoring our Father.
Just like others see the likeness of our parents in us, it is a blessing to know they see the likeness of God in us.
We can take heart in knowing that we have the witness of God’s Spirit in our hearts that we belong to Him.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, when we are born again, by the Holy Spirit, it brings about a new and Divine life to our souls. Just like we feel the love and care of our parents, Your love and care is felt all around us. Your Spirit lives within us and is reflected in our daily lives. We are so glad that we are Your children. Thank You!
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
