I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. Psalms 17:6 KJV
There is nothing like being able to find ourselves in a safe place.
A place that provides us with a physically and emotionally safe environment.
A feeling of security; enough to truly express ourselves.
A place where we feel supported and respected.
There is such a place.
We know David was a singer and poet of Israel.
When he was looking for a safe place, he looked to God.
Throughout Psalms we can find him praying to God.
Asking Him to keep him as the apple of the eye and hide him under the shadow of His wings (Psalms 17:8).
David was aware of man’s natural tendencies to wicked works, and of his own temptations.
He chose to make God’s Word his preservative.
The one thing that would keep him from the paths of Satan.
The paths that would lead to his destruction.
When we consider what the Old Testament tells us about David’s life and the many temptations he faced, these words reveal the level of confidence he had in God.
That he was sure that his true safety was found in Him.
We can have the same confidence.
The Father has told us that He will never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
That even though we are living in dangerous times, He is the One we can trust with our lives every day.
He is there to give us peace and assurance, both now and forever.
He is our safe place.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, there is something going on in the world every day. Things that can feel threatening, overwhelming, and dangerous. But just like David, we know we can come to You in prayer. Knowing You will give us the help, peace, and strength to make it through it all. We thank You for being our hiding place.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
