Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them? Ezekiel 14:3 KJV
God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
Anything that we worship other than Him is considered an “idol.”
It can be anything we hold as being the most important thing or priority in our lives.
A craving for things is just one form of idolatry.
We let our desires to have an abundance of material things take control of our lives.
A feeling that takes root in our hearts.
The heart is the main organ that aids in the functions of our bodies.
It fuels all our desires.
God has a way of revealing to us the things that we are putting before Him.
All our heart’s desires.
Our need to repent of our sins.
In the days of Ezekiel, the Father dealt any and kinds of idolatry.
His throne has always been in the heats of His people.
We are His people and should be making sure we rid our hearts of anything that will destroy our ability to put Him first.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that an idol is anything that takes the place of You in our lives. Let us take the time to look at our lives. To make the changes that need to be made. Show us the idols that are overtaking our lives. Create in us a clean heart. We want to be cleansed from the guilt of sin that they bring.
