Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations. 1 Peter 1:6 KJV
Many of us can remember a time when one minute we were looking at the sun beaming down, and the day was looking good.
But within moments dark clouds roll in, cover it up and a storm of rain begins to fall.
Time goes by, the clouds begin to move, and the sun begins to shine again.
The sun was there all the time.
We just had to wait through the storm to see it again.
The same can happen in our personal and spiritual lives.
It only takes a moment for our day to turn from a day blooming with sunshine, then something happens, and darkness falls all around us.
The storms we face are for our good.
They are the Lord’s way of showing us how we can face any situations that come in our lives.
That we are never alone, because even though we do not feel like He is present, He is there.
It is like the various trials that Peter is speaking about in this passage.
That they will come without warning.
Taking us from a state of being happy and rejoicing, to one of sadness and disappointment.
The good news is in knowing that even though the clouds may be dark, behind it all the Son is still shining.
The Lord has not left us.
The more we stand in faith, the clouds will soon be gone and the Son will shine even brighter.
Like the apostle we are to be thankful for the blessings God bestows on each of us.
Putting all our trust in Him.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know You are with us, not only when our days are bright, but through our darkest hours too. There is nothing You would not do to protect us. We thank You for all the mercies and graces given. Never letting our darkest hours cause us to lose faith. We put our hope and trust in You.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
