Powerful Mercies: The Everlasting Way to Manage Painful Miseries

READ: Psalms 42:6-11

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. Psalms 42:11 KJV

Things happen in our lives that we do not understand.

They can cause us so much pain, feelings, and depression.

We pray.

Crying out to the Lord with a question of, “Why.”

Wanting to understand why God does not see fit to change our circumstances.

Not realizing that sometimes He allows things to happen to make a change in us if we let Him.

Reading Psalms 42, we see that David was expressing his reasons for why he was discouraged.

He knew that his troubles were a sign of God’s wrath.

A wrath that was causing him to feel less confident in himself.

He was being challenged by people that did not believe in the Lord.

He was beginning to no longer have a desire to do some things.

A feeling we have all had.

Instead of letting this keep him down he thought on how he longed to be in the temple.

Telling himself to keep his trust in God (Psalms 42:5 KJV).

Because he did, in the end he had the victory.

The same can happen to us.

What we must remember is that no matter how hard our times seem, they are all appointed by the Lord and He has the power to change them.

Our faith wins over any situation we face.

All the changes in our lives work in our hearts.

They are the things that help us grow.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we all have our moments when things become like storms raging in our lives. They seem like they will never end. But by faith they will. They will because one word from You will calm every storm. You always have a way of turning our darkest moments into light. The greatest reason for us to keep our hope and trust in You. Let us continue to change our moments of complaining into moments of praise. Thanking You for showing us what it means to put our trust in you.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
