How to Make Anger Management Work to Your Advantage

READ: John 2:12-22

And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables. John 2:15 KJV

Individuals and organizations all over the world voice their anger.

It is about the evil and wrongdoings that have an impact on our lives.

But when anger turns into physical violence, it accomplishes nothing.

Anger does motivate us to want to seek changes, but it must be done in an orderly manner.

When reading John 2:12-22 KJV, Jesus engages in driving from the temple priests and rulers.

He did this because they were showing great desires to possess something belonging to someone else.

In this case, instead of saving souls, they were seeking monetary gains.

They were turning their courts into a marketplace when they should have been spreading the Word.

They cared more about worldly business than the Divine office they held.

An office that was to represent the Kingdom in the manner pleasing to God.

Jesus was angry, but He managed things with a pure heart.

He maintained self-control and avoided blind rage.

The “scourge of small cords” He made was His symbol of authority (John 2:15 KJV).

He was letting them know that He was not pleased with them.

How they were not showing respect for the Temple of God.

For how they were taking advantage of the poor.

The Lord was angry, but He did not allow it to cause Him to sin.

We will have our moments.

There will always be something that challenges our understanding of the world.

The Word has told us that we will be angry, but not to sin (Psalms 4:4 KJV, Ephesians 4:26 KJV).

It teaches us about who the Lord is and how His anger is shown to those whom He desires to punish.

How He wants us to manage those things that cause great anger in us.

Let us yield to His Empowering Spirit.

It is our greatest means by which we can resist all evil with the wisdom He gives.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, the Lord has shown us what it means to channel our anger at evil. That we can speak out against it, but not let it cause us to sin. How we are to pray for the salvation of evildoers. By His Spirit and reading the Word, we will gain all the knowledge we need to keep our anger in check and do things the right way. Thank You Lord.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
