I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
Psalms 121:1 KJV
There are times when we must take a break.
It could be from looking at a computer screen, reading books or doing paperwork.
Our eyes need to focus on something else for a minute.
This is not only true in our physical lives, but also true in our spiritual lives.
When the Psalmist said, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help” (Psalms 121:1 KjJV), he was referring to the hills of Jerusalem.
The city of God.
He was recognizing his need to look to God for the care and protection that would calm his anxious heart.
He knew he needed to take rest in knowing that God had everything under control.
That that was where all his strength was coming from (Psalms 121:1 KJV).
The same holds true for every believer.
When we focus on our problems, the eyes of our souls grow tired.
We lose focus on what the Lord has planned for our lives.
That is when we need to turn our attention to the far horizon like the psalmist did.
Looking even more to God’s providence and love.
There we gain a new understanding of things.
We get to experience the rest we seriously need.
We should never forget that when our outlook becomes blurred, it is time to take a rest.
Never letting the problems we face cause us to lose focus.
Always remembering to focus on the Lord.
He already knows the plan for our lives and how we should handle every situation.
He is the greatest problem solver known to mankind.
Try Him for yourself and acknowledge the help that He gives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, it is so true that the eyes of the soul grow tired when we focus on our problems. Those are the times we must lift our eyes to the hills from whence cometh our help. Looking to You. The One who makes all earthly things to us what they are. We must see all our help comes from You. We know that You will provide in Your own way and time. We must keep the faith. Thank You for all You do for us.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
