For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 KJV
Lawnmowers.
Even though the blade on the mower cuts the grass, there is a power source.
Rechargeable, battery-operated lawnmowers are common in society today.
The battery in them must charge for at least twenty-four hours.
If we don’t take the time to charge it, it will be of no use to us.
Keeping it properly charged is the only way the mower can do what it was made for.
The same holds true with our spiritual lives.
We need to constantly remind ourselves that our power is “of God and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV).
We can start off fully charged, doing the work at hand, but we must keep ourselves charged.
We need to have our spiritual batteries, our “inward man”, recharged every day (2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV).
When we do not, we will find ourselves trying to keep going on our own but running out of power.
We can no longer do the task at hand.
We know that an uncut lawn begins to get to an undesirable state when we don’t take care of it.
The same holds true when we stop recharging on the Word and sin begins to take over our lives.
It grows so much till we find ourselves in an undesirable state with the Lord.
That’s the time we need remember what the manual says about recharging often.
No Christian must wait until their battery runs out.
Our “inward man” can be renewed every day.
Staying prayerful and in the Word is the way we recharge.
Just like the lawnmower has a manual on how to maintain the life of the battery, we do too.
The Bible is God’s way of telling us how to maintain our lives through the Word.
Take the time to read it and understand the need for constant recharging.
It doesn’t take all day to do it.
Just be determined to do it.
The knowledge received is well worth it.
You’ll go forth so much stronger.
It will be like having a well-kept lawn.
It leads to a better, more prosperous life.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we know we have not the power to do things on our own. With You as our power source our inner man will never run out of energy. We will be able to go through each day stronger because of the fresh supply of grace You provide. We will be able to accomplish the goals You have set before us. May we never forget that to recharge our spiritual battery we have to plug into our main source of power which is You. The greatest source there is. Thank You for always being thee for us.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
