Nothing Can Ever Compare to the Sacrifice He Made

Read: Hebrews 2:14-18 / Leviticus 16:1-22

Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. Hebrews 2:17 KJV

In the Old Testament, we read about how two goats, without blemish, were taken before the high priest (Leviticus 16:1-22).

One was being led to the altar to be killed as a sin offering for the people.

Its blood being sprinkled on the mercy seat.

That goat was the sacrifice.

The other goat was known as the scapegoat.

It portrayed another truth.

The priest would place both his hands on the goat’s forehead and confess the sins of the people of Israel.

The goat was then led into the desert and turned loose.

It wandered away, never to be seen again.

This symbolized the taking away of the people’s sins.

That the people were now reconciled with God.

Both the goats were pictures of what the Lord would do for us.

The cross became the upright altar, where His blood was shed.

Where the Savior gave His life as a sacrifice for the atonement of our sins.

The Savior fulfilled what the two goats represented.

He was the blood sacrifice and the carrier of our sins.

One can only imagine all the pain and agony He went through for us.

Because of His sacrifice, when we accept Him as our Savior all our sins will be taken away completely.

Let us be thankful and praise God for the sacrifice He made.

He didn’t have to do it.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, nothing can compare to the sacrifice You made for our sins. The only way we can show that we are truly thankful is to seek forgiveness for our sins and continue to live according to the Word. We owe You that and more. Thank You for what You have done for us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
