Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another. Romans 12:10 KJV
It is not uncommon for anyone to want to be treated with encouragement and respect.
To have someone in their lives that will lovingly warn them when their behavior may cause them trouble.
We all have things in our lives that need correcting.
It is always good to have someone around who cares and is a shoulder to lean on.
In today’s Scripture reading, the word honor may only occur once, but has great meaning (Romans 12:10).
Paul is teaching us about how to respond to those in need of support.
We know that to honor someone includes aiding in someone’s physical needs (Romans 12:13), but there is more to it.
To give honor also means we “let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves” (Philippians 2:3).
The Lord desires for each of us to love one another in word and deed.
The love we give to each other should be sincere and free from deceit.
None of us are perfect.
The Lord still loves us and shows His love for us every day.
He desires that we live happy and fulfilling lives.
That is why our love for each other is so important.
We are to show each other the respect due.
To help each other in times of need.
To be of encouragement.
To treat each other the way we want to be treated.
When we do, life is so much better.
Let us not dishonor God by our forgetting to honor each other.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we know that we should show honor to one another. It is our way of showing respect and helping in times of need. It is a way of showing encouragement. A way to show love not only by our words, but in our deeds too. Help us to always show honor to one another.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
