Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 KJV
During our childhood we know we had moments when our parents would instruct us on what we should or should not be doing.
When we got in trouble it was nothing for them to have us stand face to face with them.
Making sure we were looking them directly in the eye.
It was their way of making sure we were listening to what they were saying.
They wanted to keep us from yielding to the temptations to do something wrong.
The directions they gave were for our good and they wanted to make sure we understood that.
They themselves had to learn certain things in life and wanted to make sure we didn’t find ourselves doing things the wrong way.
For many of us, our parents were doing their best to live according to the Word and trying to instill His teachings in their children.
To make sure that as we grew, we would remember what we had been told.
As we grow older, we all will encounter some form of temptation.
That is when we must remember what we were taught and learn to keep our eyes fixed on the Lord.
He is revealed throughout the Scriptures.
When we read them, we should always have the desire and strength to obey Him.
They help us to overcome anything that the world brings our way.
We can always look to the Lord for the guidance we need.
So, when we are facing any temptations, let us remember what our parents tried to teach us.
We must keep our eyes firmly fixed on the Savior.
Abiding by His Word.
He is the Author and Finisher of our faith.
He will always give us victory.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we know that the only way we can overcome temptations is to focus on You. In You is where our strength and grace are found. Let us always remember that the only way we can master temptation is to let You be the Master in our lives. Everything we go through is for our spiritual good. May we continue to look to You. You are the Author and Finisher of our faith. Thank You!
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
