But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 1 Corinthians 12:18 KJV
Did you know that honeybees have one of the most highly developed social structures in the animal kingdom?
The hive is where as many as 80,000 bees make their home and has a queen bee that is the heart of it.
Without her, the colony would have no future.
It was interesting to learn that whole colony has a specific duty to perform.
They weren’t just sitting around looking at the queen.
There were forager bees. Their job was flying outside, in the world, to collect food.
There were guard bees. Those who protected the hive entrance from intruders.
There were undertaker bees. They were responsible for removing dead bodies from the hive.
There were water collectors. They would bring moisture into the hive to regulate the humidity.
There were plasterers. They made a kind of cement to repair the hive.
There also was something they called a fanners station. It was at the entrance of the hive and would fan a scent outward to signal the location of the colony. It was done to aid any lost or disoriented bees.
There were even scout bees. They kept the hive alerted to opportunities and dangers from the outside world.
There is a lot to these hives.
The variety and special abilities of these worker bees were endless.
Our lives are similar to these bees.
Similar because the Lord has given each of us special gifts and talents (1 Corinthians 12:18).
Things that we can use in His church and to inspire those that come into our lives.
None of us have been called just to sit around and wait on His return.
All of us are called to do something for the Kingdom.
As children of God, the work will not get done unless we all do what He has called us to do.
The church works its best when we see ourselves as participants not one to just sit and look at what is going on around us.
God builds His church and gives it the strength it needs to do His will.
You and I are a part of His church.
When we all do our part, the world will see God’s love.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we all have been given different powers and places as a member of Your church. We all have our duties and should not feel like we are not needed. Every one of us are useful and necessary to be there for each other. May we stay closely united by the strongest bonds of love. Doing all we can to please You.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
