I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
Psalms 32:5 KJV
It is always good to know that we have someone we can talk to in our times of trouble.
Someone we can confess all the things we have done wrong.
Things that are causing us grief and sadness.
A pastor or friend might be available to listen carefully to what we are feeling, provide Biblical passages to read and even pray with us.
It is a blessing, and we should be thankful, to have someone around to do this for and with us.
But the true and only way to peace of conscience, is, to confess our sins, to God, that they may be forgiven.
To declare them to Him is the way we become justified.
In Psalms 32, David is writing about the troubles he was having because he was refusing to face his sins.
“When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer” (vv.3-4).
He was describing the misery that he was going through.
Our sins can cause us so much hurt and separation (James 4:8-10).
David found that if he humbled himself in prayer to God and the confession of his sins (Psalms 32:5), made it possible for him to find the comfort he so desired.
Sin is the cause of all our misery.
There is nothing to be gained by trying to cover them up. God already knows all about them.
For all of us, when we find ourselves in a time of grief, the burdens of guilt are weighing heavy on us and no rest can be found, we need to realize the only way they will be lifted is to pray and confess them to the Lord.
As true believers, when we do this, His Divine law grants us forgiveness and our relationship with Him is restored.
“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered (Psalms 32:1).
Let us not wait so long to deal with our personal sins. They only weigh us down.
Besides, God already knows about them.
He just wants us to acknowledge them.
Take the time to confess.
Confession brings freedom and relief.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we know You are aware of everything we have done. Give us the courage to confess our sins. To bow down and ask for Your forgiveness. We know that our confession to You is the only way we will find freedom and relief. Thank You for forgiving us. Thank You for the love You give us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
