And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
Genesis 9:11 KJV
Covenants are the promises, agreements or contracts that are made between two parties.
They are made every day.
Spiritually, a covenant is the sacred agreement we each make with God.
It is a relationship that is built on keeping the promises made and working together to reach the goals desired.
We learn about what it means to be on the receiving end of one of God’s promises in Genesis.
God made a promise, in the form of a rainbow, with Noah after the flooding of the land.
Letting him know that he had no reason to fear the rain continuing.
It was a promise that was being made between Him, Noah, every living creature, and generations to come (Genesis 9:8-14).
The promise would continue the more they followed His lead.
They were not to worry about threatening situations.
But to be encouraged because when they looked to the thicker clouds, the brighter the bow would be.
Meaning that no matter the situation, they could put their trust in Him.
That He was with them, and everything was going to be okay.
The same holds true in our lives.
God wants the same relationship with us, just like He did with Noah.
One in which we make and keep our promises.
The ones that when we have the most reason to fear the rain prevailing in our lives, we look to as our rainbow.
Looking up and not doubting.
Staying strong in our faith.
Not doubting what God has planned for our lives.
When we fail to do this, the rain continues to fall.
Troubles continue to flood our lives.
Keeping us from receiving the blessings He desires to give us.
God has set specific goals for our lives and promises to bless us as we obey what He says.
When we make and keep our promises with faith and thankfulness, we receive the blessings He has promised.
We can hold our heads up and look up and smile.
Rejoicing in victory.
Singing songs of praise.
Because we received all the comfort we need and more.
Will you be the one coming out of a flood and looking at the bow?
All you must do is touch and agree with Him.
Believe in His promises.
It can still happen in your life.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know when we learn to lean on Your promises, we build a firm foundation. One that stands through any storms or rains that flood our lives. To look for a rainbow in the end. Reminding us to look up and know You are with us. Seeing us through our situations. To stand on Your promises. Thank You for all the promises You make and keeping as we follow Your lead.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
