God Is Always Trustworthy

Read: 1 John 4:1-4

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 KJV

Have you ever been in a position when you heard someone speaking and trusted in what they were saying?

They were talking a good talk, and you felt like they were on the up and up.

They almost had you.

But something on the inside of you gave you reason for concern.

Telling you that before you went any further with them, to really check them out.

Better safe than sorry.

The same holds true when it comes to our spiritual lives.

We must be careful about who and what we are listening to.

The Savior has warned us about the smooth-talking people we will encounter in life.

He has told us, as believers to “believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (v.1).

The world is full of ones that speak words that sound Biblical but are only words they know the people want to hear.

Words that will satisfy the people’s desires as well as their own.

We are to study the Scriptures for ourselves.

That is how we receive Divine teaching.

Making it possible for us to know the difference between someone who is really following the Word and the ones that are false prophets (vv.2-3)

The Savior is always speaking to us through the Word.

Guiding us through every phase of our lives.

Helping us to know the difference between “the spirit of truth and the spirit of error” (v.6).

Because everything we see is not of God and what He desires for our lives.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we are thankful for the warning You give regarding the false prophets that pretends to be teaching Your Word. They are all around us. How we will know the difference when we read and receive Your Divine teaching. Thank You for the wisdom You freely give to each of us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
