And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. Luke 19:5 KJV
There are times when we go to great lengths to accomplish a goal.
Someone notices our determination and takes some time to discuss them with us.
The discussion could be short or long in nature.
It could have been one that was not so positive.
But it gave us the opportunity and motivation needed to make corrections and continue in our endeavors.
Our Savior knows about everything that is going on in our lives.
Especially when we take the time to seek His guidance.
He will call us out, sit us down and discuss our situations.
That is what Zacchaeus was doing when he climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus (v.4).
His goal was to see Jesus no matter what it took to do it.
To hopefully, get answers to his questions.
Jesus noticed Zacchaeus’ determination to see Him, called him out and invited Himself to his house (v.5).
Zacchaeus quickly came down and received the Lord joyfully (v.6).
Of course, there were those who had something negative to say, because of his past (v.7).
We all have had our moments of doing things the wrong way or for the wrong reasons.
Despite it all, he had his conversation with the Lord.
Telling Him about all that he had done, hoped to achieve and if he missed anything to let him know so he could correct them. (v.8).
Zaccheus is proof that no matter what we have previously done, we should always seek the Savior for advice.
The Savior has already picked us out of the crowd.
He knows that we have tried to do things our way and felt that they were good and wanted to improve on them.
That the only way it would happen was when we seek Him and let Him into our lives.
He is ready to help us make the corrections needed, repent of our sins, and walk in faith.
How happy we all will be when we accept His desire to come into our lives.
When we allow Him to lead and guide us.
What a day of rejoicing that will be.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we all have our moments when we feel the way we have done things is good when they really were not. Our blessings come when we realize we need to accept Your invitation to come into our lives and live a life free from sin. May others seek You and accept Your invitation to come into their lives. Reaping the benefits of the salvation You bring to us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
