When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. Psalms 73:16-17 KJV
We all know how frustrating it can be when we are trying to do things the right way, only to see someone else, who wasn’t, gain prosperity.
Before we let our feelings of disappointment cause us to go in the wrong direction, we must take it to the Lord in prayer.
That is what Asaph in Psalms 73 did and it ended on a more positive note.
He is telling us about the way the world works and how the wrongs others do is rewarded (v.12).
His feelings that “in vain [he] had kept [his] heart pure and [had] washed [his] hands in innocence” (v.13).
How frustrating it was that he was trying to do things the right way while those who were living ungodly were living better than him.
He was beginning to doubt the value of living godly.
It was when he entered the sanctuary of God and began to pray that his outlook changed (vv. 16-17).
He began to remember that he needed to stay on track.
That God would be dealing with those who are unfaithful (v.27) and be a refuge to those who remained faithful (v.28).
The same holds true for our lives to this day.
We are not to let the things of the world get us off track and do things the wrong way.
It is good to know that no matter the problems we are facing in our lifetime, we can enter our private sanctuary, meet with the Lord in prayer and find comfort.
Staying rooted and grounded in the ways of the Lord will always help us be good at understanding things.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we admit that we do get frustrated when we know how hard we are working to do things the right way, only to see others, who are not, gaining prosperity. You have told us that when we live righteously all our afflictions will end in peace. That we will be happy. That those who live a wicked life, theirs shall end in misery. Help us to keep bringing our concerns to You in prayer. We know You are the only one who can help us understand it all.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
