Anchored In the Lord

Read: Mark 4:35-41

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39 KJV

Songs of praise and worship have always been a way to say what we are feeling.

When times were hard and I had feelings that they would not end, I would listen to and sing a song by Douglas Lee Miller called “My Soul Has Been Anchored in The Lord.”

He was singing about the fact that there will be times when we feel like there are storms raging in our lives.

How hard it is for us to sometimes tell the night from day.

How hope is reassured when we keep our eyes on the Lord.

That the Lord is always there to lead us to a blessed place He has prepared for us.

The Lord is no stranger to storms.

In Mark 4:35-41, He even told the disciples to head across a lake that would soon become windy and wild.

That night, while the Lord was sleeping, a storm hit and tested these fishermen.

They thought the storm would not end.

They thought they were going to die.

They were in a panic state.

They didn’t know what to do.

They began to pray.

Jesus heard their cry, stepped in, calmed the water, and led His disciples to a deeper faith.

He was the anchor that brought peace.

That is what knowing the Lord does for each of us.

As the song says, “in the Word of God [we] have an anchor [that] keeps [us] steadfast and unmovable despite the tides.”

That no matter how long it takes for us to receive that blessing, we must stay anchored in the Lord.

To pray and believe.

The Lord wants us to trust Him in our storms.

So, when the pillars roll and breaker dash, we should not sway because the Lord is holding us.

No matter the dark days or the clouds that are in the sky, know it is alright because Jesus is with us.

Keeping us safe from all hurt, harm, and danger.

He has the power to say to the waves, “Peace, be still.”

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, there will be times when there will be storms that rage in our lives. We struggle to see how we are going to make it through it all. Those are the times we need to keep our faith in You and stay anchored in the Word. Reminding ourselves that there is nothing that can happen to us that You cannot handle. Nothing that You can’t bring us through. When our soul has been anchored in You Lord, there will be peace. Thank You for being there to calm any storm.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
