Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. Luke 19:38 KJV
There are certain times of the year when all over the world parades are held.
Honoring and celebrating the many holidays, achievements, organizations, men, and women.
Parades that have a Grand Marshall that is followed by large groups of people marching, walking, riding horses or some type of vehicle.
We sometimes attend these parades or watch them on television.
The crowds are so large that people try to find a way to see it all.
We see children who are sitting on the shoulders of an adult.
Some had even camped out the night before to make sure they were in a good spot to see it all.
There is so much shouting and cheering going on.
Everyone is so excited to see what or who was coming and be a part of the celebration.
Then be able to talk about with the same excitement when it is done.
One can only imagine how it was when we read about a “parade” in the Bible.
How people were standing shoulder to shoulder on a dirt road trying to see who was coming.
Some were standing on their tiptoes.
Briefly, they could see a man riding on a donkey.
As He approached, knowing who He was, they “spread their clothes in the way (Luke 19:36).
“Others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way” (Matthew 21:8).
“The whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice” (Luke 19:37).
They surrounded Him and shouted, “Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest” (v.38).
Such praises had an effect on the people of Jerusalem, so much so, that when Jesus finally arrived, “all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?” (Matthew 21:10).
A question still being asked today.
One that we should be happy to answer.
We may not be able to pave His way with palm branches, our shout praises to Him in person, we can still honor Him.
Telling others about His remarkable works, help others in their times of need, patiently bear any insults from unbelievers and continue to show love, like Jesus did.
Like God, our Father, did.
They are still doing it to this day.
When we live according to His Word, it won’t be hard to answer the question of, “Who is Jesus?”
There will be so much to tell, we won’t know where to start.
All we know is that we will be excited to tell them about who He is.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, may our lives and our words show that we are following You. You are the Grand Marshall that is leading us on the path we should take. When others look at us, we want them to see You in us. To know that we are following You. Making them want to know even more about You.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
