Do You Know Him?

Read: Matthew 16:13-21

He [Jesus] saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Matthew 16:15 KJV

Just after Thanksgiving, Christmas cheer begins to be seen.

Everywhere we turn we are seeing some evidence of Christmas spirit and seasonal marketing.

Many houses, offices and stores begin to drape their trees and shrub with strings of lights.

Some with different colors.

Making for a beautiful nighttime landscape.

There are so many different schemes.

While some of us love the beautiful nighttime landscapes, there are others that may have doubts or disbeliefs.

We all observe Christmas in different ways.

No matter how we celebrate it, we really need to consider what the true meaning is really supposed to be about.

The Birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Remembering who He is and what His birth was about.

Jesus even asked the disciples, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” (v.13).

They responded with what others had said: John the Baptist, Elias, Jeremias, or one of the prophets (v.14).

Then Jesus made it personal: “But whom say ye that I am? “(v.15).

Peter responded, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (v.16).

Every day we celebrate the birth of our friends and loved ones.

Showering them with gifts and love.

Let us remember that Christmas is our time to celebrate the Birth of the Savior.

Showering Him with the gifts of love, thanksgiving, and praise.

Not just on that one day, but every day.

Reminding ourselves that He was born in a stable, dwelled among us and died for our sins.

That He is the “Son of the living God” (v.16).

The One who was born to redeem us.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, Christmas comes once a year. We all celebrated Christmas in different ways. May the Christmas celebrations this year, and years to come, be one that truly honors the Savior who was born to redeem us from sin. But also remembering, that every day is a day to celebrate His birth.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
