For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Ecclesiastes 4:10 KJV
Roller skating was popular when I was growing up.
Learning how to skate was fun, but scary too.
The thought of putting on some shoes with wheels was exciting.
Because I knew how to walk, I didn’t think it would be hard to do.
Especially since I saw so many my age doing it.
Boy was I wrong.
I can’t tell you how many times I fell.
The good part was, there was someone around to help me get back on my feet and keep trying.
I wasn’t too proud to accept their help.
I was thankful for it.
I eventually learned how to skate, but still had times when I fell, and someone helped me up.
The gift of a helping hand is what this passage about.
Having someone there to help us up when we fall or are going through something is a blessing.
We should never be to proud to accept it.
The union of Christians leads to success and safety.
It gives us the ability to assist each other with words of encouragement and friendly reminders of what we may be doing wrong.
To know that someone is there for us makes our lives sweeter and more effective.
A friend or someone who is in the right place at the right time, brings warmth to our lives.
If it appears that no one is nearby to lift us to our feet again, we can find comfort in knowing that God is our ever-present help (Psalms 46:1).
He is always there for us.
He will even send us the right person to help.
He may even send us to be the right person to help someone else.
All in all, as we reach out to Him, He’s ready to steady us with His firm grip.
We are never alone.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we are so happy to know that You are there to pick us up when we fall. For the people You have used to encourage and strengthen us. Thank You, Your friendship is the most faithful friendship we have.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
