Dwell On it

Read: Luke 2:8-20

But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 KJV

Sometimes when we are reading the Word or listening to a sermon, we have questions.

Trying to understand what the Lord is trying to tell us.

Someone may try to explain what they think it meant, but it may not give us the answer we wanted to hear.

We still feel there is more to it.

Those are the times we need to think carefully about the situation and allow God to reveal to us His truth.

He knows exactly what it means for our lives.

That is what Mary did.

After the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, there was the appearance of angels and shepherds who came to see the Messiah.

Mary heard a lot of talk about many things.

She “kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19).

She carefully observed and thought about all the things that were happening.

The things that were there to enliven her holy affections.

To grant her the wisdom and knowledge that she needed from that point and in the days to come.

She listened, but let God tell her what it all meant.

When we struggle to understand the meaning of what is happening in our lives and need deliverance from errors in judgement and practices, we should look at Mary.

Her wonderful example of what it means to seek God and His wisdom should constantly encourage us to do the same.

We all need to take a few minutes of quiet time.

Honestly listening to what God might be saying to us.

We would be amazed at what He has in store for our lives.

Knowing that when we accept God’s leading in our lives, we receive the knowledge about His loving guidance.

A guidance we will forever treasure and more fully ponder in our hearts.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, like Mary, we desire You to be our guide. Guide us by Your Holy Spirit. Let us always remember the great love You have for us. Taking a few minutes of quiet to think about and listen to what You are saying. Embracing everything You have planned for our lives.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
