Staying Strong

Read: Job 1:13-22

And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. Job 1:21 KJV

Each day we should think about our lives and what the Lord has done for us.

When we do, we will see how generous He has been to us.

No matter how large or small, our gratitude is the key to seeing the Lord in even the most troubling moments we face in life.

Job is a prime example of someone who faced troubling moments.

His losses were many.

He lost all his livestock and moments later he lost all ten of his children.

Like any of us who have suffered a loss, we can’t help but express our grief.

Job’s grief could be felt in his response: he “arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped” (v.20).

He knew that although he was going through a tough time, God was with him.

The words he spoke in that painful hour shows us that Job knew the practice of gratitude, for he acknowledges that God had given him everything he had lost (v.21).

Showing his gratitude was the only way he could worship in this time of grief and pain.

In the end, he was blessed even more.

We also can strive to use this method in our day to day lives.

The practice of daily gratitude will not replace how much pain we feel in our seasons of losses.

However, it will give us the strength to stand strong in any situation.

We will be blessed even more too.

Yes, Job questioned what was happening and struggled through all of it.

But he continued to recognize God’s goodness towards him.

A goodness we all should recognize.

Putting us in the position where we never forget that even in darkest hours of our lives, we can prepare ourselves to kneel in worship before our all-powerful God.

Watching and seeing how the regular practice of thankfulness will change our daily lives.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, let us make it a daily practice to recognize Your generosity. Every day You are making a way for us. We may not understand why things are happening, but we trust You. We know You want only the best for us. You are the Giver of all things.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
