Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ 1 Peter 1:6-7 KJV
There was an article in the 1980’s about the site of a gold strike in Northern Nevada.
It was interesting because during the 19th century the gold in those western hills was known to be invisible.
The article said that even after magnifying it 1,500 times most of the particles still could not be seen.
With the modern technology of today, a way to extract gold was discovered.
It was a lengthy process, no shortcuts could be taken.
The final step was the adding of zinc dust which allowed the gold to separate out and be seen.
The steps took a lot of patience and time but worth it in the end.
Bit if they weren’t the results could be bad and seen as a waste of time.
The same can be said about our lives.
The Lord has given us the ability to take every situation we find ourselves in to have a positive ending.
Peter was talking about suffering in his first New Testament letter.
About how through all we go through there can be happiness in the end.
He was explaining how no matter the situations we face; the Lord has given us way to be successful through it all.
The Lord is giving us all we need to grow in our lives.
All the things that lead to a future of happiness and success.
He never said there wouldn’t be times when things would get rough.
And they will.
That is why we need to look beyond what we see right now.
All the things that are causing us to suffer.
And begin to see them as the steps we take to build our faith.
To obtain the precious faith that the Lord is developing in us (1 Peter 1:6-7).
Peter was showing them, and telling us, that the “faith processing” experience is of great value to our spiritual lives.
That the trials of our faith are more precious than gold, because it’s value lasts forever (v.7).
It grows in value the more we follow the Word.
So, just like gold is wonderful to have, our faith is so much better.
It can never be destroyed when we hold true to it.
Even more the reason to thank God for the many blessings He gives us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we know there will be tests and trials testing our faith. Let us stand strong in the Word so in the end we come out victorious. Rejoicing in all the blessings we are to receive. In You we can do all things.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
