The Best Policy on How to Conduct Ourselves

Read:  1 Peter 2:11-17

Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 1 Peter 2:12 KJV

I was walking out of the grocery store one day with my daughter.

We only had a few bags, so we took them out of the buggy.

When we were putting the buggy with the other ones, we noticed that someone had left one of their bags.

Grant it, the bag only contained a two-liter bottle of soda, and we could have easily taken it because it was already paid for, we didn’t.

Instead, I took it back into the store and gave it to one of the tellers.

You never know, in these days and times, it may have been the first time in a long time since that person could even afford a soda.

It could have been a treat for their family.

And when you think about it, if it had been you who left something in a buggy, you would be grateful that someone turned it in and you were able to get it back.

The Lord has told us we are to be honest in everything that we do.

That in “all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them” (Matthew 7:12).

We all have our moments when we know that we need to be forgiven for something we have thought or done.

We should not hesitate to ask for it because when we don’t it is hard to have a spiritual impact on others.

Our testimonies show the change and difference our walk with the Lord is making.

That none of us are perfect, but it is what we are striving to become.

The Apostle Peter has told us that we are to have honorable conduct (1 Peter 2:12).

That this is “the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men” (v.15).

We all know the saying, “Honesty is the best policy”.

It really is “God’s Policy.”

When we stay rooted and grounded in the Word, doing right comes easy.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, let there be truth in our words and deeds. Letting others know that we are striving to follow You. That we want our conduct to be honorable and do what is pleasing and right in Your sight. We want to be a living testimony of what it means to show honorable conduct.
