God’s Power is Awesome

Read: Psalms 114

Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob. Psalms 114:7 KJV

When I am feeling low, I love to listen and find comfort in the “old skool” gospel songs I grew up on.

One song was “The Lord Will Make a Way Somehow.”

The first verse says a lot all on its own.

It says:

“Like a ship that’s tossed and driven, battered by an angry sea; When the storms of life are raging, and their fury falls on me, I wonder what have I done, that makes this race so hard to run; Then I say to my soul, take courage, the Lord will make a way somehow.”

Bottom line is, there is no problem that the Lord cannot solve.

God created all things, and He is in control.

Psalms 114 is talking about the mass departure of the Israelites from Egypt (Exodus 14:13-31). How the parting of the Red Sea describes the great power of God.

The Psalmist talks about how, “The sea saw it, and fled” (Psalms 114:3).

The seas were obeying the command of God.

When we are faced with troubling times or situations.

When it seems like the seas are raging.

All our problems will tremble “at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob” (v.7).

Take courage and remember that we serve a God with awesome power.

Just like the seas fled before Him, so will the situations that seem overwhelming in our lives.

The power of God with us is greater than any situations or troubles around us.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we are blessed by the power and goodness You show us. We don’t have to face the things in life alone. When we grow weak and begin to struggle, You are there. Thank You. There is no one greater than You.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
