Read: John 14:15-18

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. John 14:16 KJV

The expression “Save Our Ship” (SOS) is said to be coined by sailors.

It was their way to signal for help from a vessel in distress.

A Coast Guard cutter ship would see the signal and respond.

Tracking them down, contacting them, and staying by their side.

It remains by her side and leads her back to the nearest port.

For the Christian, SOS is our signal to the “Spirit Of Salvation.”

It is our prayer for deliverance from sin and its consequences.

Deliverance from harm and loss.

An SOS call that will always be answered for those who walk in faith.

God is always there to receive them.

Jesus even acknowledged this fact.

He knew that the Father had always been there for Him.

That although, He was about to leave them, the Father would still be there to help them.

He told the disciples, “I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter” (John 14:16).

The word Comforter can also mean, “Helper” or “Counselor.”

Someone who helps us feel less worried, upset, or frightened about the situations we face.

It is the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is placed in the lives of all of Christ’s disciples.

It is the favor that God bears to His chosen (v.11).

Just like the Coast Guard cutter ship guides a sailboat to safety, the Holy Spirit guides and protects us through life’s moments of distress.

He is beside us to protect, encourage, comfort and counsel.

There to guide us safely home.

How wonderful it is to know that God’s Spirit not only lives inside us but is walking beside us.

Leading and guiding us every step of the way.

Our source of holiness and happiness.

There for every believer forever.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, it is good to know that because we have faith in You, we know that whatever we ask in Christ’s name, all things will happen for our good. That the Holy Spirit is the “Spirit Of Salvation” that gives us the ability to call on You in the times of trouble. Our “Help” and “Comforter”. Thank You for guiding us until we are safely home.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
