The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. Luke 12:23 KJV
There have been surveys done about what they want out of life.
Many indicate that being well-off financially is their goal.
They feel that money is the most important thing in life.
Society has it where most feel that happiness comes from monetary wealth.
Having fine cars, elegant homes, and expensive clothes.
The Lord has cautioned us against giving way to earthly thoughts.
To take notice of our desire for the possession of material things.
The more we let worldly desires have the upper hand, the more confusion and frustration will enter our lives.
Anxiety and worries begin to set in.
It happens because we can find ourselves trying to live beyond our means.
Our goal in life is not to be one of gaining goods, because they are only going to last so long.
We all know styles change all the time.
Nothing stays the same.
That is why it is good to know that our Heavenly Father does not change.
Everything He plans for our lives remains the same.
That is why our greater goal is to keep our trust in the Lord.
We want to gain, through Him, the treasure that lasts forever.
Eternal life with everything we will ever need.
He is our encouragement.
We can always cast our cares on Him because He cares about us (1 Peter 5:7 KJV).
Earthly treasures only have value while we are living here on earth.
We all will have some, but they are not to be our main focus.
The Lord has told us, “Life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment” (Luke 12:23 KJV).
Starting now, be determined to lay up more in the form of heavenly treasures.
Letting go of the need for so many earthly trinkets.
They change all the time and lose value.
Heavenly treasures never lose value.
By faith, they are with us now and forever.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, the ways of the world can have us to believe that what we possess is more important than our faith in You. They fail to remember that You have told us that You would supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory. It is okay to like nice things, but not to let them govern our lives. Our lives are worth more than the things we possess. Earthly treasures we may have, but the ones we have waiting in Heaven have more value. Thank You for it all.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
