A “helpmate” is a helpful loving companion or partner.
A husband or wife shows this when they have a relationship where they support and encourage one another.
They have a love that stands the test of times.
But there are times when husbands and wives lose sight of the hopes and dreams, they once shared.
Making it difficult to be around each other.
There are too many reminders of their past failures and disappointments.
Hope for the future comes when they reflect on the positive.
Remembering all the hopes and dreams that have come true.
The same holds true with our Spiritual Relationship with Christ.
The words of Adam, mentioned by the Apostle Paul, was spoken literally of marriage.
But these words also had a hidden sense in them.
A hidden sense relating to the union between Christ and His church.
The Apostle Paul wrote a letter to the Ephesians, asking husbands and wives to focus their thoughts on their relationship with the Son of God. Not on their past failures and disappointments.
That the love of Christ to the church is an example, of what it means to be sincere, pure, and constant, despite our failures.
That the duties of wives and husbands are enforced by the spiritual relation between Christ and the church.
We are the church.
We have a Spiritual marriage. Which means we have a union with God, through Christ.
It doesn’t matter if our status is one of husband and wives or single, we have that relationship.
There will be failures and shortcomings, but we must never forget about our relationship with the Son of God and our duties to each other love.
Christ gave Himself that we would be sanctified in this world and glorified in Heaven.
Even more reason to adore and rejoice in the love He shows us.
A love that ensures that the worst evils and the many painful effects of them would be avoided.
Our Spiritual Marriages to Christ was made in Heaven, but daily, while here on earth, we must work out on them.
We are to remain steadfast in our duties. That comes when we live by the Word.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, may husbands and wives continue to share their hopes for the future. Forgive us for being more preoccupied with our errors and failures than with the love of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to discover our true spouse is in the light of His great love for us. We see this when we honor each other.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
