His Still Small Voice – Unbelievably Great in Every Life

Read: Psalms 46:7-11 / 1 Kings 19:11-18

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalms 46:10 KJV

There are times in our lives when we must sit back, relax, and decide to not let the troubles of life weigh us down.

It will seem hard, but with the Lord on our side we can do it.

As always, the Bible shows us that we are not alone.

That there is someone else that has taken on the same struggles.

In 1 Kings, we see where God spoke to Elijah on Mount Horeb.

We all know that the Father could have spoken to him any way He chose to.

It could have been in the wind, an earthquake, or even fire.

Instead, He spoke to him in a “still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12 KJV).

Asking, “What doest thou here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19:13).

Elijah was hiding from Jezebel who had threatened to kill him.

God already knew the answer, just like He does when He questions us.

Elijah’s response was one that revealed the depth of his fears and discouragement.

“He said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away” (1 Kings 19:14 KJV).

But Elijah was not the only one serving God.

God had, “seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him” (1 Kings 19:18 KJV).

During the times we are going through something and feel like there is no way out, we have to remember that we are not the only ones serving God during their fear or despair.

It is a blessing to remember what He has told us.

He has said, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalms 46:10 KJV).

To keep our focus on Him and His power will always result in a calming of our fears.

We are not to let anything deny us the ability to hear His still small voice.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that when we stop letting the things around us be the only thing we see and hear, our lives will be better. Praying and listening to hear Your “still small voice.” The only voice that will make our hearts rejoice. We know that with You on our side, You have the answer to all our fears. Thank You for being there for us.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
