We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers.
1 Thessalonians 1:2 KJV
Hospitality is spoken of in the Bible (Romans 12:13; 1 Timothy 5:10; Hebrews 13:2; 1 Peter 4:9).
It is shown by our actions and affections.
How we receive and show love to a stranger.
A good example is how we acknowledge and receive visitors in church.
How we welcome them into God’s home.
Making sure they feel love.
So much so, they express it with a sincere “Thank You”, a hug, a smile or even a letter.
An expression of gratitude is what Paul was saying when he wrote to the Thessalonians.
He, Silvanus, and Timotheus was shown hospitality by “the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ.” He was peaking grace and peace upon them. (v.1).
Not only were they grateful for what they had done, they were also keeping them in their prayers. Giving thanks to God for all they had done (v.2).
Paul’s letter let them know that they were being remembered for their “work of faith.”
That their “labour of love” had not gone unnoticed.
That they had “patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father” (v.3).
That is what the Lord desires from all of us.
Faith, hope, and love.
Whether we are caring for a loved one, helping a neighbor, or volunteering our time, let us stay encouraged as we do the work God has called us to do.
Praying, not only for ourselves, but for others also.
Welcoming and being helpful to one another.
God will continue to strengthen us each day as we strive to do good and live according to His Word.
Our labor will be a powerful testimony to the fact that the Lord is daily empowering us with faith, hope, and love.
This quote says a lot. It reads: “The glory of life is to love, not to be loved; to give, not to get; to serve, not to be served.”
When you think about it, we all are on the receiving end.
That “our labor is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, may we this day have eyes to see others’ needs. Give us directions on the ways we might help. Most of all, the Spiritual Power to obey. We want to live a life of faith, hope, and love. Knowing that these are just some of the many blessings You have given us. As we obey, we will receive even more. Thank You Father.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
