How To Make Sense of God’s Reasoning – Understanding Why

Read: Matthew 26:36-46

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. Matthew 26:42 KJV

There are times when we all can feel like the weight of the world is upon us.

The things we are facing, we wish would go away.

What we have to remember is that things happen for a reason.

That is how the Savior was feeling.

He knew that God had a plan to save mankind and He was it.

He was in the Garden of Gethsemane, feeling much sorrow.

He was praying to God, trying to get an understanding regarding what was about to happen.

He was about to become the sacrificial Lamb for our sins.

He was to “be sin for us” so that we all can be saved from sin. (2 Corinthians 5:21).

He became the one that took the punishment that God meant for us.

Although He hated that thought of dying, He wanted to do His Father’s will.

That is why He prayed to way He did.

God heard the prayers Jesus made, but said no to His requests that the cup of wrath be avoided.

Because He gives us grace and mercy, God sent an angel to strengthen Jesus for the task (Luke 22:43).

He does the same with us.

We all go through things that require us to make a sacrifice.

Asking God if He would take the burdens we face away.

When God answers no to something we want, we can be sure it is because He knows what is best for us.

With any situation we find ourselves in, we can be sure that He will give us the strength we need to make it through.

Remain steadfast in the Word.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, it took a lot of strength for You to do what You did for us. To have Your request to be freed from the pain You were about to suffer be denied. You are the prime example that what the Father allows in our lives, no matter how bad it may seem, in the end is for our good. He has angels all around us to give us strength. We will stay in the Word and Your will shall be done.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
