In This World His Powerful Discipline Manifests Spectacular Endings

Read: Hebrews 12: 1-11

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Hebrews 12:10 KJV

There are many parents that try to discipline their children.

They try to do it in a fair and just way.

Sometimes they can be too harsh.

Other times they can be too easy going.

Because they want what is best for them.

They also try to consider the uniqueness of each of their children.

Knowing the way they say things is important.

It can have an effect on one child but have no effect on another.

That is why discipline needs to be based on each child’s personality.

It is to be done in a way where they are taught something.

That as they grow, they will remember the lesson learned.

They really feel they are doing what is best.

Our Spiritual Discipline is quite different.

God’s dealing with us is perfectly suited to our personalities.

All because He knows us better than we know ourselves.

Better than our parents and those around us.

His corrections are not ones of condemnation, but ones that greatly promote holiness (Hebrews 12:19 KJV).

The type of discipline He shows us is always what is needed.

His timing is always right.

God will never fail to chasten us when we persist in living contrary to His will (1 Corinthians 11:32 KJV).

As we journey through life, our circumstances only make us stronger.

It is just like the Hebrews in this passage.

Even though no specific sin is mentioned, their faith was in question.

They needed to be warned and encouraged to remain steadfast in faith.

We are all different.

We are all at various places in our lives.

Only God knows how to best deal with us.

It is reassuring to know that He will always be there for us.

That no matter how hard things may be, we are being handled with the greatest of love.

With nothing but the greatest of care.

There is no greater love than the love shown to us by the Father.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we may question why it seems like You are being hard on us. Wondering sometimes if You are really still there for us. Those are the times we have to remember that our test and trials only come to make us strong. That the training we receive from You is always right and fair. Your way of helping us grow in faith. Thank You for the love and care You always show us.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
