Intercessory Prayer! This Is What The World Needs Now

 Read:  1 Timothy 2:1-5

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 KJV

Just because someone holds a position of authority it does not mean they don’t need the help they can receive when we pray. We all do. (v. 1).

That was what Paul was saying to the people around him.

Like them, many of us have a hard time accepting Paul’s instructions to give thanks to God for government (v. 2).

God has a purpose for all we go through.

We know it’s hard to maintain because of all the wrong we see in national and local government.

Hard because of the way people conduct themselves on every level.

We see it as more of a curse than a blessing.

We most often let the negative we see outweigh the positive that is around us.

We need to look at the many benefits we are able to enjoy as a result of good laws.

Conditions may be far from perfect.

They could be much worse.

We should be thankful for those who do truly try to do things the right way.

Every nation has something beneficial for the people that other nations don’t.

No matter where we are, as disciples of Christ we should be praying.

Knowing that prayer changes things.

No matter who we are, we should be living a godly and honest life.

Worshipping God no matter our situation.

Praying for all those in a position of authority.

Doing both because the grace of the gospel does not look at our status in life.

It was given for all to follow and our way to keep our faith and trust in the Lord.

He has the final say in how things will end.

We are to be thankful that He is in control no matter how things look.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, we could spend all day talking about how unfair the ways government does things. Help us stay steadfast in the Word and do as You say. Giving thanks and lifting up our leaders and those around us in prayer. Prayer is where we find the power to endure.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
