For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. Proverbs 8:11 KJV
There are many things in life that make us happy.
For many, an abundance of money is one of the first things they desire.
But no matter how much money or things we possess, in the end, they do not satisfy all the things of life.
Worldly possessions are useless if we do not have the wisdom to handle them in a way that is beneficial for our lives.
Wisdom is what we should desire the most.
“Wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her” (Proverbs 8:11 NIV).
This knowledge may not come quickly.
It is gained when we continue to seek it.
We do this by staying rooted and grounded in the Word.
God knew that man needed it.
That is why He sent His Son to lead the way.
The Lord has provided us with everything we need to obtain the wisdom needed to maintain and prosper during our stay on earth.
Knowing that His wisdom and knowledge is really preparing us for greater things when we get to Heaven.
When we read and study the Bible, pray, and seek His guidance, we learn quite a bit.
We find out that there were many who sought wisdom, what they learned and how it changed their lives.
How it can change our lives.
King Solomon is one such example of someone who gained wisdom.
He was a wealthy man, but despite his wealth he understood that money had its limitations.
Seeking the Lord, He acknowledged the path he needed to take in life and was willing to share it with others.
He called out to all mankind and let his mouth speak the truth regarding wisdom (vv. 4-7 KJV).
He told them, “Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it” (vv.10-11 KJV).
He was testifying, offering first-hand knowledge and his wisdom to all people.
The Lord has told us, “My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver. I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full” (vv. 19-21 NIV).
We all benefit from acknowledging that God gives us the true riches of wisdom.
It takes us farther than anything this world can ever offer.
They are riches thar are everlasting.
We must seek and follow Him.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we know that Your Spirit guides us in wisdom and truth. It is so much better than anything this world has to offer. We know it does not compare to goods You have laid up, not for days or years, but for eternity in Heaven. Thank You for the riches of Your wisdom that guides our steps every day.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
