Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
2 Timothy 1:11 KJV
Deep down in our spirits we all know that there is a calling on our lives.
We sometimes find it difficult to accept it because we are looking at the things in our past and our status in society.
The tendency to “second-guess” ourselves, makes us feel like we are not qualified or worthy to take on new challenges or try to assist anyone else.
Those are the times we must remember we all have made mistakes.
That the Lord is the only perfect One. The only One who can change our hearts and lives.
When we come to Him, He forgets about our pasts failings and transforms our lives.
God saves and empowers us to honor Him with our lives. Not because of our qualifications but because we are all valuable to Him as members of His family (v.9)
That is what Paul was telling Timothy in this passage.
He was encouraging Timothy to embrace what the Lord had chosen him to do for the kingdom. To go forward in faith and use the gifts God had given him (v.6).
With God as his guide, he would be given the courage and power he needed to help him love, be disciplined, continue to grow in faith and serve those that were placed in his life (v. 7).
Whether we are called to be “a preacher”, “an apostle”, or “a teacher of the Gentiles” God desires to use us (v.11).
By the power of the Holy Spirit, we will gain the strength we need to see beyond what we think of ourselves.
He will give us everything we need.
We will be transformed into the vessel that is used by the Lord.
The more we think about what He has done for us, our confidence is strengthened.
And because we have the strength of the Lord on our side. the more we will want to show and tell others about Him.
We won’t be afraid.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, it is good to know that You see beyond what we see in ourselves. That when we come to know You as our power source, we gain the confidence we need in our lives to be the servant You have called. No longer looking at past mistakes and having the feeling that we are not qualified to be used by You. We are honored that we are called to be of service to You. To help lead others to You. Thank You for believing in us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
