If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan? Jeremiah 12:5 KJV
At any time, on any given day, we can find ourselves facing some type of trouble.
Whether the trouble is great or small, it can have an impact on our lives.
Especially when we are looking at what others may have and the lifestyle they live.
Those are the times when we can look at our situation, voice or write down our concerns, but in the end, remind ourselves to turn them over to the Lord and leave them there.
To wait on Him to tell us what we need to do and follow His instructions.
The questions He may ask us can be harsh, but they are for our good.
He is always there to lead and guide us.
Our troubles will always seem smaller when we remember the greatness of our Savior.
In Jeremiah 12, the prophet was experiencing a moment of being low in spirit from a loss of hope and courage.
There was a feeling of hopelessness, discouragement and gloom.
The Lord had to speak with him.
In a questioning manner, telling him that what he was currently experiencing was like a soldier that was marching or fighting on foot.
That he was basically working to defend the people against any threats.
To be mindful of what was to come would be like him trying to keep up with the calvary (v.5).
To ask himself, that with the way he was feeling, would he be able to press on.
All God’s questions were to help him see which direction he should continue to take.
The results of what his answers would bring.
How there was going to be a loss of faith and confidence in Him on the part of the countrymen, as well as, famine, natural disasters, and the invasion by their enemies were still to come.
But that there was still hope.
A ray of light that would overshadow the darkness.
All the Israelites had to do was repent and put their trust in God.
Then they would be restored and be able to live in the sunlight of God’s favor.
No matter what we face in life, don’t be discouraged or afraid.
God has a plan for each of our lives.
His plan will always end in a glorious way for all who trust and believe in Him.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, when the storms of life are raging, let us remember that we can bring them to You and leave them there. That You are the One who can give us the right way to handle all things. Making us the vessel that You use to show others that by putting their trust in You is the best thing they can do. May we never be afraid to bring our troubled hearts to You.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
