For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land. Deuteronomy 15:11 KJV
When we see or hear the word poor, we think about money.
Yes, there are many who do not have enough money to meet their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter.
But there are also those that are poor spiritually. They need to be fed the Word.
God sees all our needs and has great concerns regarding them.
Just like He has provided us when He sacrificed His Son, we can take the time to assist others in need.
He has told us that there will always be someone who is poor in some way. That we are to be there for one another (Deuteronomy 15:11).
All of us have a way to meet this command.
Volunteering is one of those ways.
There is always a need and we have the ability to help our church or another organization.
To help them reach out to those who are in need.
Providing food, clothing, shelter, training and even employment.
And, as believers, we also have the ability to speak a Word of encouragement. He has told us that the poor shall never cease out of the land (v.11).
Obey His calling and be the one that helps those in need.
Be the one to bring a positive influence to someone’s life.
Both physically and spiritually.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we hear Your call to open our hearts and hands to the poor and all those in need. We want to show the love as You have shown us. We freely give ourselves to You.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
