We have all been caught in a position where our initial reaction was one of frustration or forgiveness.
In this passage, the Lord is letting us know that “a happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit. (Proverbs 15:13 NIV)”
That a gloomy, impatient, unthankful spirit, renders a man uneasy to himself and others.
It is the result of pride and undue attachment to worldly objects.
Understand that it is not saying that we will have positive outlooks on every interruption, disappointment or inconvenience we face in life.
There will be times for genuine mourning, despair, and even anger at an injustice.
But in our everyday moments, know that a smile can offer relief, hope and the grace needed to help us press on.
A Godly smile has a powerful result.
A genuine smile invites others to embrace the hope and peace they too can experience with God.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, it is good to know that we encourage one another with something as simple as a smile. That a smile helps us to build one another and give hope. Today, as we cross paths with others, make our hearts happy and generate a smile of relief and joy that only You can offer.
