Moving Forward In Faith

And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. Joshua 14:10-11 KJV

As we grow older, we may notice some joint pains, especially when the season of cold weather is upon us.

Some days we may feel less like a conqueror but someone who is being conquered. For some of us, it is the challenge of becoming a senior citizen.

That’s when I am reminded of Caleb. He was a spy sent by Moses to scout out Canaan, the Promised Land (Num. 13-14).

Even after other spies gave an unfavorable report, Caleb and Joshua were the only ones favored by God to enter Canaan.

We see in Joshua 14; it was now time for Caleb to receive the portion of land that God had promised him.

There were still some enemies that he had to drive out and Caleb was determined that he was going to be there to do it. Even though he was up in age, he wasn’t about to retire. He knew that the Lord was helping him, and He would drive the Anakites out, just like He said.

Caleb had the mindset that kept him battle-ready. He focused on the power of God, not his age (85 years old) or his own power.

He knew that God would help him do all that needed to be done.

We may not think about doing anything as historic when we reach a certain age, but we can still do great things for God.

When times seem hard, remind yourself,

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13 KJV

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we all will have some Caleb-sized opportunities that come our way; let us not shy away from them but know that You are helping us. Thank You for giving us the strength to get through each day so we can do Your will.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
