The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. Psalms 19:8 KJV
In today’s reading the Psalmist refers to the Lord’s statutes.
They are the commandments that are inscribed and “set in stone”.
They set boundaries for how we are to live.
To help keep us from a state of sin.
They were given because God knows what is best for every one of us.
He lets us see, in the Word, the real portrait of sin.
God is showing us the sorrow, pains, and death that it can cause in our lives.
He lets us see them and gives us the solution to it all.
Only He can open our eyes to the Messiah.
The only One who can help us be delivered from our sins.
For those who believe, the Holy Scriptures are of much greater benefit to them.
And as we live by Them, we are living testimonies to those around us.
The benefits are much greater than day or night, than the air we breathe and the light of the sun.
It is what we all need to recover from our fallen state.
His grace is for the soul, and the concerns of eternity.
That is why the Word of God, received by faith, is more precious than gold.
It will forever be sweet to the soul.
Much sweeter than honey.
His statutes are everything we need to remain steadfast and live a life of rejoicing.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that the Bible contains information about man’s complete ruin in sin. That You saw the need to help us live a better life. How You sent the remedy for it all through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Let us never give up on what He is teaching us, no matter how hard our times may be. Living according to the Word is our sure-fire way to defeat the enemy and save our souls. To live eternally with You in Heaven.
