And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
2 Chronicles 20:20 KJV
No one can honestly say they have not had a time when something or someone has not caused them some form of pain or trouble.
There are so many things we face in life from illnesses, accidents, and heartbreaks.
But as we walk and live by faith, they cannot destroy us.
They happen to make us realize where our strength comes from.
With the Lord on our side all things are possible.
Any battle He fights for us will always be won.
In this passage we learn about the danger and distress Judah and Jerusalem faced.
Jehoshaphat heard from the Lord, through the prophet Jahaziel.
He was told, “fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you” ( 2 Chronicles 20:17 KJV).
Jehoshaphat then fell on his knees and prayed about their situation (2 Chronicles 20:18 KJV).
The people even gathered and sang praises unto the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:19 KJV).
Jehoshaphat took to heart what he was being told.
So much so, that he strongly encouraged his troops to stand firm in their faith in God.
On the next day, “they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa.”
“And as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem.”
He told them to “Believe in the LORD your God.”
That they would be established.
To believe his prophets and they would prosper (2 Chronicles 20:20 KJV).
They took his words to heart.
They stood on faith and was victorious.
We all must determine where our faith lies.
Is it in God or human nature?
We all must make the right choice.
True faith will always be in God.
He gives us the courage we need to face any situation.
We must establish in our hearts a firm belief of the power He has over all things.
His promises always show us mercy,
They are always filled with blessings.
Being just like Jehoshaphat and taking heed to the prophecy of Jahaziel regarding their victory over their enemies (2 Chronicles 20:17 KJV).
The Lord is always there to fight our battles.
The victories are already ours when we trust and believe.
Life battles belong to the Lord.
He has a purpose for anything that happens in our lives.
Trust and believe that all things are possible with the Lord.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that each day there will be a battle we must face. Be it great or small, may we find the wisdom to listen and stand firm on the guidance You give us. Right now, we are offering up a praise of thanksgiving. Celebrating the victories in our lives from this point forward. Thank You.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
