Remembering Christ’s Sacrifice

And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
1 Corinthians 11:24, 25 KJV

Many churches observe a Communion Sunday, or Holy Communion, in remembrance of Christ and the sacrifice He made.

The apostle had the knowledge, by revelation from Christ, and describes how this sacred ordinance is to be carried out.

In honor of the Lord’s Supper, as commanded by Christ,  we celebrate and remember His death.

The visible signs, are represented by bread and wine.

They signify Christ’s body and blood.

His Body that was broken and His Blood that was shed.

The Lord’s actions in taking the bread and cup, together afforded us the benefits which flow from His death and sacrifice.

That is why we are to do both in remembrance of Christ.

But that is not where it ends.

We who partake of this Communion, acknowledge that we have taken Christ as our Lord and Life.

That we yield ourselves to Him, and vow to live upon His Word.

The Lord’s supper is not an ordinance to be observed merely for a time, but to be continued.

Yes it is to be done in remembrance of Christ and all the He has done and suffered, but all the more to celebrate His grace in our redemption.

May we all come to know Christ, obey His commands and partake of Holy Communion.

Remembering that Christ’s death for us should cause us to live all the more for Him.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, Holy Communion was Your way to save and give life to us all. Giving us new beginnings, comforts and hopes. We know that the bread and cup signify the price You paid so willingly for us and we will faithfully continue to take part in the Lord’s Supper till You come. Declaring and forever acknowledging Your death to be our life.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
