The Lord has often used a simple story to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson.
They are to help us see where we have gone wrong in life.
David was in a bad way and the Lord sent Nathan to bring him a Word.
Nathan told David a story about a rich man who robbed a poor man of his only lamb.
That although the rich man owned herds of animal and could have taken of his own, he slaughters the poor man’s sheep and made it his meal.
When Nathan told David that the story illustrated his actions, David saw how he had harmed Uriah, his wife.
He admitted his sin.
We all have committed a sin that was not pleasing to God.
He has even sent someone, who knew our situation and was willing to talk to us.
When God reveals sin in the lives of His own people, His main purpose is not to condemn us, but to restore us.
David said not a word to excuse himself or make light of his sin, but freely owns it.
David was led to repentance.
He had a change of mind, heart, and action.
Turning away from sin and self and returning to God.
When we repent, we strive to make continual corrections in our lives.
Repentance is a lifelong journey.
It clears the way for the renewed closeness we can have with God through the power of His forgiveness and grace.
As we study the Bible and learn what sin is, we should be looking for opportunities for growth in our lives and find ways to apply what we are learning in a practical way.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, let us daily look in the mirror and see what areas we need to improve. Help us to see our lives the way You see them. Thank You for giving us the opportunity to repent of our sins and experience Your grace.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
