The Best, Powerful Gifts from the Father of Lights

Today’s Reading: James 1:12-18

Today’s Verse: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17 KJV

We know a gift is something given to someone who is not already the owner. It is intended to be free.

But it means more when it comes from God.

The gifts He gives are always free and unearned. They are voluntarily given. They represent His grace. They show God’s undeserved love.

James 1:17 KJV shows God as the consistent source of all good things. It shows His unchanging, faithful nature.

This is a verse that follows a warning for us not to be deceived. It clearly says that God does not tempt but only provides good things. It distinguishes Him from the source of temptation.

Verse 17 shows us that He is the source of goodness. His gifts are truly good and perfect. They originate from Him. They are not from earthy or selfish sources.

He is the “Father of Lights.” God is the Creator of the sun, moon, and stars. He is above them from because He does not change or move like those positioned in the sky.

God does not change. He offers us stability. He offers faithfulness. He provides consistent goodness to all believers. He provides all of this even during our trials.

This verse is a reminder to recognize God’s loving hand in a positive way. In all circumstances. To trust His unchanging character.

God desires to give us a wonderful gift each and every day.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we thank You that every good and perfect gift in our lives comes from You. You are the Father of lights. You do not change. We thank You for the blessings of life and family. For Your grace that is new every day. Help us to anchor our hearts in the Word when things in our lives feel uncertain and change. It is the truth that You are steadfast and true. We must recognize Your goodness in the big things and the small moments. Thank You for it all.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
