The Great Shepherd – Awesome Psalm to Empower Us All

The Great Shepherd – Awesome Psalm to Empower Us All

Today’s Reading: Psalms 23

Today’s Verse: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” (Psalms 23:1-6 KJV)

This is a comforting Bible Poem and Prayer written by King David.

His words describe God as a loving Shepherd. Expressing how God is a generous Host who provides for him. The One who guides him through dark valleys and protects him through every season of life. The One who offers an eternal dwelling place.

With joy David meditates on the fact that he has a shepherd and that shepherd is Jehovah. A shepherd who provides

As believers, these Words teach us to express our satisfaction in the care of the great Pastor of the universe. The Redeemer and Preserver of men.

Just as God did with David, He is doing the same for all of us.

Just like a shepherd leading his sheep to food and water, He supplies our needs, rest, and peace. In His care we will lack nothing essential for our well-being. He has everything we need to survive physically, mentally, and spiritually.

We don’t have to fear danger or evil. God is ever-present. He always brings safety and calm to us during hard and frightening times. His rod and staff represent defense against threats. Gently guiding us back to safety. We can take comfort in His Words. Forever trusting that He is always close by. We are never alone.

He even expresses abundant hospitality. We go from being outside to a glorious banquet. One that He has prepared for us in the presence of our enemies. A table set with an overflowing cup that represents honor, safety, and God’s abundant grace.

It is good to know that even after all these blessings, we still have the gracious gift of eternal hope. The assurance that God’s goodness and mercy will follow us throughout life, ending in the promise of dwelling in the house of the Lord forever.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Heavenly Father, our past experiences will teach us to trust in the Lord. That He is our Shepherd and we will not lack anything we truly need. We know He can make any situation better, by the anointing of His Spirit. We are standing on the Word. Thank You for Your provisions, guidance, and protection. Thank You for all the blessings, love and kindliness that You show us every day of our lives. We want to dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Selah!

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
