See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 1 Thessalonians 5:15 KJV
It is hard not to want to get even with someone when they do something wrong to us.
To try to cause them just as much grief as they have caused you.
It is human nature.
In this verse, Paul is telling his readers that they should do good to everyone.
That they should not try to get even with anyone who has done them harm.
He was a strong believer that the Lord is the One that needs to address any wrong done against His children.
He has told us, “Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men” (Romans 12:17).
We even see in Matthew 5:38-48, where the Lord is telling us about the saying we have heard, “An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth” (Read Matthew 5:38-48).
Telling us how we should be handling things.
His desire is to show us how to answer evil with a response that promotes reconciliation and peace where possible.
It may be hard to do at times, but we must remember that the Lord is always working for our benefit.
We just need to remain faithful in the times we find ourselves in unwanted situations.
When we respond according to His Word, we receive the blessings He desires for us.
Whenever we feel we may be losing because of our kind responses, God sees them and has something better for us.
He has told us: “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 6:9 KJV).
You know with any parent; they have their children’s back!
Leading and protecting them every way they can.
He has our back!
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we know that we should be at peace among ourselves. Doing all we can to guard against any differences we may have. There will be those who still try to offend us, but we are to continue to be encouraged and to strive to do things Your way. It can be hard sometimes, but we know that whatever man does to us, You will bless us for doing good. Thank You for the guidance that we receive daily.
